Our Approach
Patient/Family Assessment: We begin with a thorough evaluation of each patient and their family dynamics to ensure a comprehensive understanding of their needs.
Collaborative Care: We work closely with patients and their families to develop personalized treatment plans, ensuring everyone is aligned and involved in the healing process.
Therapeutic, Trauma-Informed Interventions: Our treatments are designed with sensitivity to past traumas, creating a safe and supportive environment for healing.
Play-Based Interventions: Especially beneficial for children, we utilize play therapy to help young patients express themselves and work through challenges.
Active Living, Supplemental, and Lifestyle Interventions: We emphasize holistic wellness, incorporating physical activity, nutrition, and lifestyle changes into treatment plans.
Laboratory Assessment: When necessary, we conduct thorough laboratory tests to inform our treatment strategies and monitor progress.
Medication Review, Initiation, Adjustment, and Management: Our psychiatric team provides expert medication management, carefully reviewing and adjusting treatments as needed.
Areas of Expertise:
Trauma, Anxiety, and PTSD: Helping patients process traumatic experiences and manage anxiety symptoms.
Depression and Bipolar Disorder: Providing support and treatment for mood disorders across the spectrum.
Disordered Eating: Addressing the complex physical and emotional aspects of eating disorders
Inattention and ADHD: Offering strategies and treatments to improve focus and manage ADHD symptoms.
PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder): Specializing in the treatment of severe premenstrual symptoms affecting mood and functioning.
Pre/Post-Natal Mood Disorders: Supporting women through the emotional challenges of pregnancy and early motherhood.
OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder): Providing effective treatments to manage obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors.
Women’s Mental Health: Addressing the unique mental health needs of women across all life stages.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing): EMDR is a therapeutic treatment designed to help individuals process negative or traumatic experiences. It utilizes bilateral stimulation, neuroplasticity, and memory reconsolidation. This process aims to reduce the emotional impact and charge of the experiences, helping clients integrate more adaptively. EMDR is supported by extensive research and is recognized as an effective treatment for trauma-related disorders.
Child and Adolescent Mental Health: Offering specialized care for the mental health challenges faced by younger patients.
Brain Spotting: Brainspotting is a therapeutic approach designed to help individuals process trauma and emotional distress. The process relies on eye positioning and reflexes, dual attunement, and somatic awareness to reduce distress and integrate negative experiences more effectively. Brainspotting is grounded in neurobiological principles, focusing on the brain's natural ability to heal itself when guided appropriately. Brainspotting has been used for various issues, including PTSD, anxiety, and depression, and is often praised for its gentler approach compared to more traditional therapies.

-
Yes, absolutely! We offer in-person appointments at our office and virtual services to accommodate your preferences and schedule. Many clients appreciate the flexibility of having both options available.
-
Your initial appointment includes a comprehensive 90-minute assessment divided into meaningful segments. For adult clients, this time is spent getting to know you, your history, your priorities/goals in order to develop a collaborative, personalized treatment plan.
For children and adolescents, we conduct a 45-minute virtual consultation with parents first to gather background information, followed by a 45-minute in-person session with your child. This approach allows us to understand the parents' perspective and assess your child or teen’s needs directly.
-
The frequency of appointments depends on your individual needs:
Initially, most patients are seen within 2-4 weeks after the first session
If your situation requires more support, we may recommend more frequent visits
Once we establish a treatment plan that's working well, appointments are typically scheduled every 3-6 months for maintenance
-
Yes, we provide ADHD assessments for both children and adults.
For children, we start with a parent consultation before meeting with the child. This approach allows us to gather a comprehensive history from parents, teachers, and other caregivers. We typically incorporate standardized measures such as the Vanderbilt Parent and Teacher Assessment Scales.
For adults, we incorporate objective computerized testing alongside standardized subjective measures to support diagnosis. We evaluate psychosocial factors, mood, and overall health in all cases to determine appropriate treatment.
-
We always begin with a full 90-minute assessment to comprehensively understand your needs. If you don't currently have a therapist and would like to engage in therapy work, we can establish a schedule of therapeutic sessions if we determine it's a good fit.
Our therapeutic approaches include:
Brainspotting
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
